so was the rotor pointed at the #1 wire after setting the cap at 15 degrees?

It does take time for the signal to make a spark, however that is a constant delay. The baseline timing advance is more about the time delay in the pressure wave as the fuel ignites. As the engine speed picks up, the timing needs to advance further to get that pressure wave to occur just after TDC (fuel is ignited before TDC).

This won't work with innovator west harmonic balancer, but they make their own so no big deal.

I purchased a programmable 6530, after setting up, the software was reading more then double the rpm, then my engine tach. (Autometer Engine Tach, Laser RPM Tach AND Timing light all confirmed I was right.) Couldn't fix no matter what I did. NO stock Electronic, ALL MSD products (Coil, trigger wheel, Wires. Called MSD support, They had no idea what was going on. So I sent it to them, after 2 months, I got it back AND still would not work, same problem but was only 1K RPM off. I called them again, ask for a refund......The tech support basically called me a LIER!! So, MSD can go F'k themselves!! Will never buy another MSD product again!!

You can never have "too good" of an ignition system. Even if a car is just an appliance to you - you still want your ignition system to be the best that it can possibly be. Having the best ignition system possible improves torque, horsepower, gas mileage, and it also makes your exhaust emissions be cleaner.

I just want to know if MSD ignition systems are compatible with my 1985 Ford Bronco XLT V8 351W and if it’s worth buying them?🧐

Someone help here, the aluminum housing shim should should adjust the pinion engagement area, and the block shims should adjust the depth of he starter pinion

I can't believe how many people think that by adjusting your timing you are adjusting where the spark happens on the rotor. Without an adjustable rotor, an adjustable cap, or an adjustable breaker plate/electronic equivalent THERE IS NO ADJUSTING THE PHASING. I just want to make it clear that rotor phasing on a normal distributor is a term that describes the phasing change via the vacuum advance (NOT AN ADJUSTMENT) because the vacuum advance moves the breaker plate.

Can you explain how that advance stop piece works please. Mine is in a 1965 283 , w/mild cam , summit k1102. No tach , but i dont think im approaching 5500 rpm. Cruiser application

4:55, I beleve this statement is wrong. The adjustable vaccuum canister can not increase or decrease the amount of timing. You can adjust when the timing shall be activated by the amount of vaccuum. Thigher spring in the caninster equals later advance from the caninster etc.

I made an adjustable canister for my old VW, I can change the spring inside or tighten it stiffer or less to experiment. I really enjoy the torque at partial throttle it gives. 🔧🪛🚘

How much of gap should there be from the rotor to the post in the cap? .050" ?

6425 6AL key on Engine off I get 1 led blink then goes out, what could possibly be why not getting 5 blinks ? Triggers as I am cranking, car starts and runs, is my box not working properly?

Just purchase week and a half ago, the 6530, also using trigger wheel. Software reading double the RPM that my tachometer is reading. And yes, I changed the software to the correct total cylinders in the tree. 2 different Tech support guys had no answer to this problem.....I just sent it back so they can look inside the box. Hope they find the problem!

Summit (msd) sbc igntion box, dist. Recently developed a crank/no start or hard start condition Used to run Summit brand 8mm wires always fired up Put Napa premium Belden 8mm on. Could this be an issue? Meaning too much resistance? Everything in the car is brand new .Wires nuts bolts you name it. Tired of throwing parts and on disability cant afford to Thx PS Neighbor insisted on buying me the fancy NGK platinum?? plugs are those any good or just stick to Autolite 3924? Is the MSD street fire distributor a " multi spark" unit WITHOUT a 6A box . Im finding multiple conflicting forums about what timing light to use with JUST the street fire distributor & NO 6A box . They say certain timing lights wont work with multi spark ignition ,but IS the street fire distributor a MULTI SPARK ??

Example for like n14 engine/Peugeot 1.6 thp with the undersquare, compression ratio like 10.5.1, turbocharger, direct injection, 6 speed auto, no marking degree, and result for that engine like computer scaning, as result -1 ignition degree, minimum degree like 15 to 18, maximum degree like 30 to 34 degree, so if you like mathly counter in your brain what - ignition degree would like you choose for that engine performance would be better?? Im brand new to fuel injection so Dumb question time my timing is 36 degrees i set the crank trigger there. So do i still set the crank to 195 degrees to set the cam sync then.
